Description (Service) | COVID-19 – Response A Message for those using our Service * Morning Drop-in program closed for the immediate future * Providing pre-packaged grocery hampers on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons between 1 pm-3 pm * people must practice social distancing and not line up ahead of time for the grocery program * we have introduced an expedited process for the safety and well-being of our clients, volunteers and staff which takes less than 5 minutes A Message for our Donors * no food donations accepted at this time, as we do not want you putting yourself at further risk shopping picking up groceries for the food bank * help by visiting our website https://www.barriefoodbank.org/ to make an online donation or if you would prefer to write a cheque please mail your donation to Barrie Food Bank P.O. Box 145, Barrie, ON L4M 4S5 rather than delivering it * all funds raised locally are spent locally with some of our local grocery stores who support us and allow us to stretch our dollars with them Regular Service Emergency food relief up to ten times a year * interviews and food distribution occur on Mon, Wed and Fri afternoons * please bring plastic or canvas bags for your order * consultation and referral services also provided to encourage self sufficiency and personal well being Offer morning drop-in program to distribute surplus items such as bread, baked goods, vegetables and other products depending on supplies |

Application | People seeking emergency food relief can apply in person for a confidential assessment verifying the current emergency * the assessment will require the following documents * proof of income (statements from Ontario Works, Employment Insurance, pension, etc) * official rent receipt or proof of mortgage and other monthly expenses * ID for each adult living in the home with current address (driver's licence, cheque, bill or other mail) * proof of family members who are under the applicant's care No documents are needed for the Mon-Fri morning drop-in |
