Description (Service) | Regional public art gallery serving the residents of Barrie, Simcoe County and the surrounding area * includes multiple exhibition galleries, an education centre, a sculpture courtyard, Gallery Café, Gallery Shop and Framing Services * permanent collection of 27,408 works of art held in trust for the public and presents a year-round programme of world-class exhibitions, education activities and special events * a not-for-profit, registered charitable organization administered by a board of directors Education programmes include artist talks, art classes, school programmes and guided tours * MacLaren's VanGo programme brings artists into classrooms throughout Simcoe County * offers art classes and camps for children, youth and adults * youth programmes include W-Edge, a free Wednesday after school drop-in workshop, and the MacLaren Youth Advisory Council * opportunities for co-op placements for local high school students Meeting and Reception facilities services for wedding receptions and business meetings, catering is available * for more information about these services contact eventservices@maclarenart.com The Spirit Catcher on the Barrie waterfront has become a symbol for the residents of the city and was the first work in the MacLaren Art Centre's permanent collection * for information about use of the Spirit Catcher visit the website * the Gallery Shop has replicas as well as items featuring the Spirit Catcher |
