SNAP is a 13 week evidence-based gender specific program designed for children with serious behavioural problems at home, at school, with persons in authority, and in the community - skill-building program for children, and their parents/caregivers, designed to teach how to effectively manage emotions and make better choices in the moment to keep their problems smaller
- gender specific children's group help the children to learn how to use their SNAP in different situation through engaging activities, discussions, role playing, and interactive games
- Topics in the children's group include dealing with angry thoughts and feelings, self-control, problem-solving, and bullying
- parents' group meets at the same time as children's group
- parents/ caregivers learn effective child management and how to support their child using their SNAP strategies
- parent group provides parents with an opportunity to make connections with other parents facing similar challenges
- school advocacy/ teacher support component available to children and families active in the SNAP program to ensure children receive the help and support they need at school

- presenting problems may include problems with family relationships, physically and/or verbally aggressive behaviour, defiant behaviour, lack of self-control and problem-solving skills, difficulty making and keeping healthy relationships, stealing, bullying others, and/or damaging property
