Description

Description (Service)

Helps ease financial barriers to accessing dental care for eligible Canadian residentswith an annual adjusted family net income of less than $90,000 who do not have access to dental insurance.

Applications are opening in phases starting with seniors:
 

Group Applications open
Seniors aged 87 and above Starting December 2023
Seniors aged 77 to 86 Starting January 2024
Seniors aged 72 to 76 Starting February 2024
Seniors aged 70 to 71 Starting March 2024
Seniors aged 65 to 69 Starting May 2024
Adults with a valid Disability Tax Credit certificate Starting June 2024
Children under the age of 18 Starting June 2024
All remaining eligible Canadian residents Starting 2025


Services Covered

  • cleaning, polishing, sealants, fluoride treatments
  • examinations, X-rays
  • fillings, root canals
  • extractions
  • prosthodontic services, including complete and partial removable dentures

Some services may not be available until Fall, 2024, so check the website for updates

How Much is Covered?

Some people will need to pay a co-payment

  • those with an annual adjusted family net income of less than $70,000 do not have to pay a co-payment
  • those with an income of $70,000-79,999 will pay a copayment of 40% of the treatment
  • those with an income of $80,000-89,999 will pay a co-payment of 60% of the treatment

Eligibility
  • Canadian residents with an annual adjusted family net income of less than $90,000 who do not have access to dental insurance.
  • Residents who access dental coverage through a social program offered by a province/territory and/or the federal government can still qualify for the CDCP if they meet all the eligibility criteria.
  • Residents must have filed an income tax return the previous year

Application
  • Drop-in to local Service Canada Centre for information
    • if requesting assistance in-person at a Service Canada location also bring identification showing legal name, photo, signature and/or date of birth
  • to request a phone call from a Service Canada representative, complete an online request at Service Request
  • Online applications are now open, for instructions go to Apply for CDCP
    • if you do not have access to the internet applications are accepted over the phone by calling 1-833-537-4342 Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
    • When booking an appointment with an oral health provider, make sure to ask if they are participating in the CDCP. 
    • Seniors aged 65 and above are now eligible to apply for the CDCP online without needing an invitation letter, if you have received an invitation to apply letter, please note that the personal access code provided expired on April 30, 2024, apply online or phone or drop-in to nearest Service Canada Centre for assistance

  • You and your spouse or common-law partner (if applicable) must have filed your tax return for 2023 and have received your Notice of Assessment
