Description (Service)

Literacy and basic skills training, including numeracy, digital, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Helps learners prepare for employment, apprenticeship, secondary-school credit, post-secondary education and greater independence.

Offers online, one-to-one and small group learning options. All materials are provided. Also offers service coordination and referrals to other services, transportation and lunch.

Programs include:

  • Anishinaabemowin language classes
  • reading circles
  • Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition (PLAR)
  • independent study
  • Academic And Career Entrance (ACE) program - High school equivalency
  • Canadian
Adult Education Credential (CAEC) study - for High School Equivalency Certificate

Service Details

Hours Mon-Thu 8:30 am-4:30 pm, Fri by appointment. Hours may vary to reflect the needs of the community.
Areas Served Chippewas of Nawash First Nation ; South Bruce Peninsula
Eligibility Ages: 18 year(s) and up
  • Indigenous adults aged 18 and older who are employed or unemployed and receive income support, with reading, writing, and math skills below Grade 12
  • must have facility in English or French
Residency Requirements: Chippewas of Nawash
Application Assessment required at intake; Call to arrange assessment. Stop in during hours of operation. Email with inquiry.
