Due to the ice storm, the town of Penetanguishene has made the following facilities available as warming centres:

  • Memorial Community Centre, 61 Maria St.: 10am-8pm
  • Townhall, 10 Robert St. W.: 10am-4pm. Please note, this location has limited capacity

Residents can warm up (bring your own blankets/refreshments), charge electronics (bring your own charging cables and blocks), and fill personal water bottles.

When Environment Canada issues an extreme heat or cold alert, rest areas are available to residents for relief from extreme weather conditions. These can include public buildings such as libraries or community centres during regular business hours. Other buildings such as malls or cinemas that have air conditioning/heating could also be used.In Penetanguishene, the following locations are available:

  • Penetanguishene Public Library, 24 Simcoe St, Mon, Tue, Fri 9 am-6 pm * Wed, Thu 9 am-7 pm * Sat 9 am-2 pm
