Description (Service) Assists with first/last month's rent, rental/mortgage arrears or utility arrears including hydro, gas,oil, and wood, moving/storing expenses. 
Requests for financial assistance will be considered based on individual circumstance and available funding.

Eligibility Low income including CPP, EI, WSIB, Ontario Works (OW) recipients, ODSP recipients, working individuals 
A combined maximum of $1,200 for eligible singles/couples and $2,000 for eligible families in a 24-month period 
may be available 
For utility assistance, must have a disconnect notice  
For rental arrears, must have a notice of eviction 
For mortgage, you must have letter stating the bank will not defer payment
Application OW and ODSP recipients are required to complete a 1 page application form which can be obtained from their case worker/OW office or local Housing Support Office * Also, they MUST contact their worker to advise of application * To check on status/progress of application, OW and ODSP recipients (for all of Simcoe County) can call Social and Community Services Division, Ontario Works office at 705-722-3132, ext 1833 
For all other applications for low income individuals/families living in Simcoe County (with the exception of South Simcoe, including Alliston, Bradford, West Gwillimbury, Tottenham, Angus, Essa, Beeton) contact Empower Simcoe 705-739-0485, or toll free 1-833-726-9082, to schedule an appointment with the office in your area * Applicants will be advised at that time of what documents to bring to appointment
