Description (Service)

Independent provincial tribunal adjudicating issues of consent and capacity in Ontario legislation, balancing rights of vulnerable individuals with public safety; undertakes hearings and adjudicates matters of capacity, consent, civil committal, substitute decision making and personal health information for individuals, including but not limited to:

  • involuntary admission to psychiatric facility, long term care, end of life care
  • capacity to consent to or refuse treatment
  • capacity to make financial decisions
