Description & Services

Description (Service) Emotional and social support for individuals dealing with a life-threatening illness and their families/caregivers and families grieving a loss.
  • provided by specially trained volunteers
  • available in the home, hospital or long term care facilities or,
  • Tomkins house hospice facility has 5 private rooms with murphy beds, personal washrooms and a home-like environment where those in the final weeks of life can live in comfort and dignity until they die.
  • 24/7 palliative care nursing to focus on pain and symptom management.
Bereavement Support Program
For anyone who has experienced the death of someone close, available in individual or group setting.
Activities include:
  • coffee and conversation Bereavement Support Group
  • yoga for grief
  • art therapy for grief
  • parent's circle
  • stay tuned
Hours Office: Mon-Fri 8:30 am-4:30 pm
Hospice: Mon-Sun 24 hours
Bereavement Support Program: vary by activity, call for information

Eligibility
  • Individuals at the end of life and their families/care providers requiring palliative care or bereaved in need of support
  • Must meet Residency Requirements

  • Anyone can refer someone to Hospice Huronia with the consent of the person being referred
  • Hospice conducts client assessment as final step in registration
  • Call for information or to register for support groups
