Description & Services

Description (Service) Centre offers primary health care to registered clients, including the services of doctors, nurse practitioners, nurses, dieticians, community health workers, health promoters, physiotherapists, and mental health and addictions counsellors.

Centre also offers traditional healing provided by a number of First Nations and Metis healers.

Members of the community can access various free programs such as:
  • breastfeeding clinic
  • cooking classes
  • mindfulness meditation
  • drumming circles
  • balance and fitness
  • smoking cessation/nicotine replacement therapy (Quit Cafe)
Harm reduction supplies are available, including:
naloxone, safe injection supplies, sharp containers, pipe stems and bowls.

Eligibility Individuals and families who meet three specific criteria:
1. Are not registered with a primary health care provider
2. Reside in one of the following communities
  • Christian Island
  • Midland
  • Penetanguishene
  • Tay Township
  • Tiny Township
3. Fall within one of our priority populations
  • Those experiencing poverty
  • The homeless or under-housed
  • Isolated seniors
  • Youth
  • Those experiencing mental health problems and/or addictions
  • Francophone and French-speaking populations throughout North Simcoe Muskoka
  • Aboriginal, Inuit and Metis peoples throughout North Simcoe Muskoka
