Description (Service) | COVID-19 Response In-person programs and services have been suspended indefinitely, but education programs, support services and social programs are available by phone and online * check our website and social media sites for program information and regular updates * Accepting new referrals * community partners can fax referrals using the First Link Referral form * members of the public can continue to call or email office to get connected to programs * Supportive counselling is being provided by phone, email or by virtual Ontario Telemedicine Network (OTN) visits * Support groups are being run though group video conferencing * Weekly Minds in Motion Social Sessions are being hosted online and at-home activity resources are being shared * Education programs for people living with dementia, and their care partners are being delivered monthly through group video conferencing * For more information or to access any of our programs, contact office at 705-722-1066 or email simcoecounty@alzheimersociety.ca * phones are being checked regularly and a staff member will connect with you as soon as possible Regular Service Provides information, education and support to people living with Alzheimer's disease and their care partners * clients can access information packages, supportive counselling, take part in First Link Learning Series or drop in to a monthly support group First Link - Networking for people affected by Alzheimer's disease or a related dementia, to a community of learning, services and support * one-on-one counselling * caregiver support groups * referral to community resources by phone, drop in, or home visit * First Link Learning Series offered regularly in various locations Other services include: * information and education sessions for persons with dementia and their family members * education sessions for staff in health care facilities and agencies * public awareness presentations * resource library * newsletter Special Events and Fundraising Activities * January is Alzheimer Awareness Month * Tag Days held annually during the summer throughout the County of Simcoe * Alzheimer Coffee Break, a nation-wide fundraising and awareness event is held in September each year * IG Wealth Management Walk For Alzheimers takes place in May |
