Board member   Bruce County
Bruce Botanical Food Gardens
Ripley

As a board member, you will help shape the garden’s future: set strategic goals, guide fundraising, champion outreach, and ensure the garden remains an inclusive, eco‑friendly space for all. Your voice will influence programming, partnership development, and stewardship of this important community space.

The Bruce Botanical Food Garden is one of only two spaces in Canada with that designation. There is one acre full of over 250 different food plants, with room to grow in every way. We have space to physically expand and our education and food security programs also have strong growth potential with the right team.

Ready to grow with us? Email president@bbfg.org with a brief introduction and why you’re excited to join us. We’ll follow up to discuss the role and next steps.

Help us cultivate a greener community—become a board member today!

Sorting Food: Volunteers and employees sort the food and other items that are provided to us by our partners. They will select the freshest products using the first in, first out method. They must also appropriately dispose of the food that cannot be distributed. Products must be stocked in appropriate categories and designated areas.

Packing Orders: Receiving orders via our website, volunteers will pack up individual orders by their designated pick-up time. They must ensure that orders are packed up accurately and in a timely manner.

Driving: We need volunteers to drive to local partner stores to pick up donated food then drive it to our location in downtown Barrie (80 Bradford St Suite 601). The majority of the driving will be completed between the hours of 8:00am and 9:00am daily, with some occasional afternoon pick-ups as well.

Inventory: Using Shopify, volunteers and employees update the product inventory information. Quantities of items need to be maintained and product photos updated periodically.
