Algonquin Highlands has four waste disposal sites:

• Oxtongue Landfill - 3401 Hwy 60
• Dorset Transfer Station - 1087 Maple Ridge Dr
• Pine Springs Landfill - 1326 Pine Springs Rd
• Maple Lake Landfill - 1302 McPhail Rd

Not all sites accept all materials. Visit Haliburton County Waste Wizard to see where various materials are accepted, as well as fees (if applicable).

All sites accept household garbage and blue box materials (paper, plastic, glass). Use of clear bags is mandatory; no materials in black or opaque bags are accepted at any site. Visit the Recycling & Waste Diversion Programs page for more information.

• Blue Box Recycling is mandatory in Algonquin Highlands as of January 1 2026. Recycling depots are at each of the Township waste management (landfill) sites. The Algonquin Highlands Recycling Guide can be printed.

Note: Site attendants are not able to assist with lifting heavy items, please bring lifting assistance with you.

• Tenants, guests and visitors should ask the property owner to request a user ID card for use
• Short term renters should be provided with a Cottage Kit landfill pass that provides a one-time access to a Township of Algonquin Highlands waste disposal site
