Description & Services
Description (Service) | Offers several programs to children and families in Simcoe County. Resource Consultants support the inclusion of children 12 years and younger with special needs by consulting to licensed child care settings, including licensed home child care, camps and approved recreation programs. Resource Consultants work together with parents/caregivers, early childhood educators and specialized service personnel to provide support and resources to ensure the needs of the child and family are met. Direct support is available to support children with developmental support needs not attending school but who are attending a licensed Childcare program. Quality Inclusive Support Services provides funding to licensed childcare programs to support the inclusion of all children in their programs. Applications are available to licensed program supervisors/owners through the website and are reviewed by a county allocations committee monthly. Ontario Autism Programs for children under 4 who are diagnosed with Autism. Children must be registered with the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) and have an OAP #. Caregiver-Mediated Early Years (CMEY) programs offered through the Ontario Autism Program (OAP) support families with young children with autism, ages 12 months to 48 months (four years). These programs help young children learn new skills and meet individualized goals. The Entry To School program supports children with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), the program is focused on school readiness, for children between the ages of three and six years old, who are entering school (kindergarten or grade one) for the first time.
