Foreign Nationals
People who have permanent residences abroad and are seeking temporary entry to the Canada for a specific purpose. Included are foreign government officials, visitors for business and for pleasure, aliens in transit through the country, treaty traders and investors, students, international representatives, temporary workers and trainees, representatives of foreign media, exchange visitors, persons who are related to Canadian citizens, intracompany transferees and NATO officials.
Immigrants/Refugees
Individuals residing in Canada who were born outside of Canada, excluding temporary foreign workers, Canadian citizens born outside Canada and those with student or working visas.
Refugee Claimants
Individuals who have applied for refugee status while in Canada and are waiting for the Immigration and Refugee Board to determine whether or not refugee status should be granted.
